Knaack, Elsie Barbara Anna Williams
Elsie Barbara Anna Williams Knaack, 96, died Sunday, Dec. 8, 2013, at St. Luke's Hospital following an extended illness. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, at St. John Lutheran Church in Newhall, with the Rev. Steven Rempfer officiating. Interment will be held at St. Stephen's Lutheran Cemetery, near Atkins. Visitation will be held at the church in Newhall from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday.
A memorial fund has been established.
Elsie was born Sept. 19, 1917, near Newhall, to John and Emma (Kerkman) Williams. On Oct. 24, 1935, she was united in marriage to Myron W. Knaack. He preceded her in death in 2007.
Elsie was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Newhall. She enjoyed being a farm wife, cooking, gardening and caring for her flowers. He greatest joy came from her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Ronald (Nancy) Knaack of Castle Rock, Colo.; her daughter, Janis Ferguson of Vinton; six grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; her brother, Raymond Williams of Cedar Rapids; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Ronald Ferguson; her grandson-in-law, Tom Elias; and her brothers, Clarence, Elmer and Harold Williams.
Phillips Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
