Klima, Nadine Frances
Nadine Frances Klima, 85, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at Suncoast Hospice House in Palm Harbor, Fla., due to complications of a stroke. A visitation will be held Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Teahen Funeral Home, with a Memorial Service to follow at 1 p.m. by Deacon Mike Klappholz. Burial: St. John Cemetery.
Nadine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph; son, Daniel; and two sisters, Lorraine Ford and Virginia Wagner.
Nadine is survived by five children, Deb (Fred) Dochterman of West Des Moines, David (Sue) Klima of Clearwater, Fla., Denise (Tom) Lempka of Cedar Rapids, Doug (Dana) Klima of Clearwater, Fla., and Diane (Keith) Gusta of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren, Krystal, Andrew, Taylor, Daniella, Cassie and Kelsey; and many nieces and nephews.
Nadine was born Oct. 11, 1927, in Waterloo, the daughter of Glenn and Ann (Durchenwald) Wilson. She married Joseph R. Klima on May 17, 1947, in Cedar Rapids at St. Patrick Catholic Church.
She worked several part time jobs over the years while raising her family, and later worked full time at Rockwell Collins for 10 years, retiring with Joe in 1991.
She was an active member of All Saints Catholic Church while in Cedar Rapids, and joined Our Lady of Lourdes Church after moving to Palm Harbor.
Nadine lived in Cedar Rapids until retirement, but it was the blue waters of the gulf she longed for and once in Florida, she quickly made it her home. Blue was her favorite color, and she surrounded herself with it in all things, as anyone who knew her could tell you. The sunshine and warm weather suited her well, and she enjoyed her daily walks in the neighborhood and keeping busy with her yard work and spending time with her family.
Contributions in Nadine's memory may be directed to Suncoast Hospice House Brookside, 164 West Lake Rd., Palm Harbor, FL 34684 or directed to the family.
