Kisner, Dorothy
Dorothy Kisner, 87, longtime Iowa City resident, died peacefully Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013, at University Park Care Center in Des Moines. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 12, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, with the Very Rev. Rudolph Juarez officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, Iowa City, where a rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Patrick's Catholic Church Building Fund.
Dorothy was born Jan. 18, 1926, the daughter of Jack and Adelaide Schnare Kennedy. She was class valedictorian at St. Patrick's High School and a graduate of the University of Iowa. She worked at the Johnson County Court House, but is mostly remembered as a kind friend and devoted mother.
An avid bridge player, Dorothy belonged to several card clubs. She loved her church, her family, her friends, and her dogs.
Survivors include her daughter, Kathleen (John) Curtin of Des Moines; son, John (Jennifer Cook) Kisner of Windsor Heights; and her two grandchildren, Mollie and Zoe.
She was preceded in death by her brother, John Kennedy, and sister-in- law,
Barbara.
