Kirk Jeffrey McMurray, 54, formerly of Marion, died suddenly July 3, 2015, at his home in Apache Junction, Ariz. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, July 11, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion. Memorial service: 12:30 p.m. Sunday, July 12, at First Presbyterian Church in Marion. Burial: Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion.

Kirk was born March 2, 1961, in Storm Lake, Iowa, the son of Kenneth and Janice McMurray. He attended Linn-Mar schools and graduated in 1979. Kirk then graduated from Iowa State University in 1985 with a degree in business. He was employed long-term by E.T. Video.

Kirk enjoyed many outdoor activities including fishing, skiing, hiking the Superstition Mountains and playing tennis. Regardless of the circumstance, Kirk was always upbeat and positive. Kirk was a true extrovert and his smile and laugh were infectious.

Kirk was a loving father, son, brother, uncle and a great friend to many. Kirk treasured time spent with his daughters, family and friends. He was always the life of the party. He will be deeply missed and forever in our hearts.

He is survived by his parents; two daughters, Melissa Timmermans and husband Ross of Waverly and Meganne McMurray and fiance Scott McCubbin of St. Paul, Minn.; and significant other, Margi Cook. He is also survived by his brother, Bruce McMurray and wife Maureen Carpenter of New Lenox, Ill.; and sister, Lisa McMurray-Donnan and husband Leonard Donnan of Coralville; nephew, Connor McMurray; and niece, Rachel McMurray.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his memory.
