Kirk Jon Hein, 72, of Lowden, passed away on Monday, Dec. 19, 2022, at the Guttenberg Municipal Hospital & Clinics. There will be a private service with immediate family in the spring.
Kirk was born July 6, 1950, in Cedar Rapids to William and Caroline (Strackbein) Hein. He married Carol Wulf in 1971. They later divorced but remained close throughout the years.
He is survived by his five children, Tessa (Dave) Holst of Holy Cross, Penny Morrison of Eldridge, Jared (Kess) Hein of Moline, Ill., Jay (Jodie) Hein of Toronto and Jill (Greg) Jacobs of Davenport; grandchildren, Sadie Holst, Riley Holst, Jacob Holst, Cade Morrison, Chloe Morrison, Katie Hein, Eric Hein, Aidan Jacobs, Shelby Jacobs; Kellsie Gedye, Kaile Gedye and Kera Gedye; great-grand daughter Ellie; brother Richard Hein and sister Carol (Randy) Eichelberger, all of Waterloo; and very good friend, Carol Stewart of Muscatine.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Kirk grew up in Lowden. He graduated from Lowden High School and went on to college for three years. He was the owner, operator of Rex Feed and Elevator in Lowden. He never fully retired and enjoyed going into the office as much as possible. He enjoyed family gatherings and was always looking forward to the next one with the grandkids. We are comforted knowing dad is once again himself and looking after us all from above.
A celebration of life will be held Dec. 27, 2022, at HeineeJo’s in Toronto from 3 to 7 p.m.
Chapman Funeral Home has Kirk and his family in their care. Please leave condolences or memories at www.chapmanfh.com.
