Kirk Albert Tumilty, 85, passed away on Sunday, March 5, 2023, in Shellsburg, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 10, 2023, at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E. Sixth Street, Vinton, with Rev. Brian Reeves officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 9, 2023, also at the funeral home. A private family burial will take place following the service with military honors.
Kirk was born Dec. 14, 1937, in Shellsburg, the son of James Earl Tumilty and Mable Benesh. He attended Shellsburg High School. He was united in marriage to Elaine Gilbert on May 27, 1961, in Waukon.
Kirk worked and operated his family farm in Shellsburg. He was a member of the Ray and Virginia Boyer Post #166, Lions Club, Shellsburg Presbyterian, where he also served as an elder. He was also a trustee of Canton Township. He enjoyed going to the casino, hunting, working on the farm, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his loving family.
He is survived by his children, Jeff (Juli) Tumilty, Jim (Sheila) Tumilty, and Jill (Scott) Deklotz, all of Shellsburg; grandchildren, Nick (Jessica) Tumilty, Garett Tumilty, Wyatt Tumilty, Cody Deklotz, and Carley Deklotz; great-grandchildren, Caden and Kendall Tumilty; and his loving dog, Benny.
Kirk was preceded in death by his parents, wife Elaine in 2020, and granddaughter Nicole.
