Kirby, Dallas Eugene
Dallas Eugene Kirby, 31, of Anamosa, died Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8, at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Anamosa. The Rev. Mike Williams will officiate at the service. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7, at Goettsch Funeral Home in Anamosa. Interment will be at Antioch Cemetery in rural Anamosa.
Surviving are his wife, Becky; five daughters, Shyanne, Krystynna, Zabrina, Autumn and Nichelle, all of Anamosa; his mother, Phyllis Selck of Noel, Mo.; three sisters, Jennifer Zieser of Lamont, and Stacy and Sara Main of Independence; three brothers, Christopher Main of Mercer, Mo., Richard Main of Independence, Iowa and Justin (Dusty) Kirby of Noel, Mo.; eight nephews; six nieces; father- and mother-in-law, Kenneth and Cinda Petrick of Anamosa; brother- and sister-in-law, Chadd Petrick and Kayla Petrick, both of Anamosa; special person, Kathy Main of Independence; and special grandmother, Jeanne Hartwig of Anamosa.
He was preceded in death by his father, Delbert Kirby Jr. on Aug. 22, 2003; two grandmothers, Nellie Selck and Francis Kirby; and a grandfather, Delbert (Speck) Kirby.
Dallas Kirby was born Oct. 3, 1978, on Bells Ranch in Mineral Wells, Texas. He was the son of Delbert and Phyllis Selck Kirby. On March 8, 2008, Dallas and Becky Petrick were united in marriage at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Anamosa. Dallas and Becky were blessed with five beautiful daughters. Dallas was a gifted artist in singing and drawing; he also enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs and volunteering with many activities with the Jones County Central 4-H Club. He was also very proud of his American Indian heritage.
Dallas was a loving husband, father, son, grandson, brother and friend, but the thing he treasured most was the time he got to spend with his family, especially his girls. Dallas will be missed dearly by those closest to him.
