Kinney, Violet I.
Violet I. Kinney, 88, of Cedar Rapids, went to be with Jesus on Friday, Jan. 20, 2012. Services: 1 p.m. Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, by the Rev. Rick Gail of First Assembly of God. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation will be held Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include her children, John E. (Donna) Kinney of Cedar Rapids and Judy (Andrew) Braun of Wisconsin; stepdaughter, LaVon (Eugene) Divoky of Cedar Rapids; 11 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
Violet was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward; and sister, Margaret.
Violet was born Aug. 13, 1923, in Grand Mound, to John and Olive Lucht. She married Edward Kinney on March 3, 1944, in Clarence. He died in 1976. She was always available for her children and grandchildren. Violet had an outgoing personality, prettiest smile and blue eyes. She was full of “moxie” and never complained.
The family would like to thank the staff of St. Luke's Hospital and Hospice for the wonderful care given Violet.
