King, Rosalee A.
Rosalee A. King, 85, of Cedar Rapids, died at her home Tuesday, April 19, 2011. Services: 2 p.m. Saturday at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel, by the Rev. Harlan Gillespie. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, with military honors. A visitation will be held Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. and after 1:30 p.m. on Saturday at the chapel.
Survivors include her children, Donald (Ana) King of Keokuk, Diane King of Cedar Rapids and Michael J. (Patty) King of Ames.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Louis L.; and two sisters, Miriam Adams and Ruth Bauer.
Rosalee was born May 3, 1925, in Cedar Rapids, to Ernest and Frances Bunce. She graduated from McKinley High School. In college she serviced airplanes for the Army Air Corps and later joined the Coast Guard, serving during World War II. Rosalee married Louis L. King in Cedar Rapids on Oct. 20, 1946. She was employed by the Social Security office, Collins Radio, and the Cedar Rapids School District and then retired from Rockwell Collins.
Rosalee was an avid reader and enjoyed quilting and a variety of other crafts. Rosalee was a member of and held offices for Waves National and Mended Hearts organizations. In the last year of her life, Rosalee learned how to play handbells.
