King, Phillip John
Phillip John King, 73, of Anamosa, died Sunday, June 12, 2011, in his home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 15, at the First Presbyterian Church, Monticello. The Rev. Al Polito will officiate at the service. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello. Burial will be at the Oakwood Cemetery, Monticello.

Surviving are his children, Terri (Tom) Ford of Masonville, Michelle (Dan) Zumbach of Ryan, Dawn (John) Clark of Amber, and Phillip (Butch) (Dawn) King of Monticello, and Jerilyn King-Soppe of Monticello; 12 grandchildren, Courtney and Kyra Ford, Chelsea (Jared) Walz, Brittney, Nolan and Alex Zumbach, David, John T., Keith and Nathan Clark, and Kayla and Phillip (Ty) King; and three sisters, Janet Smith of Marion, Claudia (George) Manson of Marion, and Rebecca (Carl) Dimmlich of Galena, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Phillip John King was born Sept. 9, 1937, in Fort Dodge, Iowa. He was the son of John and Hazel (Beitz) King. He was a 1955 graduate of Buck Creek High School. On July 2, 1960, Phillip and Jeri Straub were united in marriage in Anamosa, Iowa. Phillip spent most of his life farming and managed the IAS office in Center Junction. He was a member of the Buck Creek United Methodist Church. Phillip was a former member of the Lions Club and served on the Maquoketa Valley School Board for 12 years. Phillip enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed golfing, bowling, his Jersey cows and International Tractors.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Phillip's name.
