Kindred, Dolores 'Pied' May
Dolores “Pied” May Kindred, 85, formerly of 2465 Covington Rd., Palo, died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2011, at Evergreen Estates III in Cedar Rapids after a short illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Teahen Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. John Howerton. Burial: Palo Cemetery. Friends may visit Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
Dolores is survived by three sons, James, Gary (Nancy) and Jerry (Lisa), all of Palo; five grandchildren, Nicole and Jared Kindred and Matthew (Robyn), Joseph (Heather) and Jeremiah Morris; five great-grandchildren; sister, Elsie Sanders of Palo; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William; two sisters, Margaret Lint and Viola Sanders; and six brothers, Orrin, Theodore, Lester, Earl, Burl and Herbert.
Dolores was born Aug. 30, 1925, in Palo, the daughter of James and Emma Spicer Usher. She married William Kindred on June 29, 1951, in Marengo. Dolores was a homemaker and the former president of the PTA for the Palo Consolidated School.
Dolores loved to cook and was known for her fried chicken, potato salad and apple pie. She also enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening and traveling. Dolores was a mother to all and looked out for many throughout her years.
A memorial fund has been established in Dolores's name.
