Judy Kimpston, 74, passed away Friday, May 3, 2013. A private celebration of Judy's life will be at Brooks Funeral Care in Clive.
Judy was born to Morris and Nellie Johnson on Jan. 21, 1939, in Iowa City. She grew up in Cedar Rapids, graduating from Jefferson High School and Cedar Rapids Business College. She married Alden B. Kimpston on July 30, 1960, at Salem Evangelical United Brethren Church and they made their home in Shueyville. Upon retirement in 1997, they moved to West Des Moines to be near their sons and families.
Judy is survived by her husband, Alden; two sons, Bruce (Mary) Kimpston and Craig (Jill) Kimpston; four grandchildren, Chris, Emily, Hunter and Noah; niece, Maureen (George) Lehr; and two nephews, Steve and Scott Peterman.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters.
Judy loved gardening, garage sales, Scrabble and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Memorials may be directed to the family or to Shueyville United Methodist Church in Shueyville.
