Kimm, Barbara Ann
Barbara Ann Kimm, 67, of Dysart, died at Covenant Medical Center of a massive heart attack on Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2013.
She was born Dec. 29, 1945, in Davenport, daughter of Herschel and Betty Kistler Stripe. She married Robert George Kimm on Dec. 28, 1966, at St. Paul United Methodist Church, Cedar Rapids.
Mrs. Kimm earned her degree in elementary education from Iowa State University in the early 60s and taught first grade for seven years, the last three for the Waterloo School District. She later worked as a teacher's aide for middle school special ed and an elementary sub in the local schools. She worked in retail sales at a department store and finally became a rural mail carrier, retiring in 2011.
Survived by her husband; a son, Ted Kimm (Sarah) of Bettendorf; a daughter, Flo (Casey) Grote of La Porte City; three grandchildren, Ivy, Lily and River; her mother of Rock Island; and a brother, Jim (Sandy) of Portland, Ore.
Preceded in death by her father.
Services: were held Aug 16, 2013, at United Methodist Church, Dysart. Burial at a later date.
Memorials: may be directed to National Audubon Society, Iowa National Heritage Foundation or World Wildlife Foundation
Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made in her name to one of her favorite organizations: National Audubon Society, Iowa National Heritage Foundation or World Wildlife Fund.

Barbara was a person of great kindness who would go out of her way to help anyone. She had an unwavering love for animals of all kind. Her grandchildren were her world and she was an avid lover of all things nature. She will truly be missed.
