Kimberly Ann Kopetsky, 51, went to heaven Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, April 4, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion with a Scripture service starting at 6:30 p.m. A private family burial will take place on Tuesday, April 5, at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Kim was born April 6, 1964, with Down syndrome and a heart defect. She overcame many physical trials and went on to have a productive life until her later years. Kim first attended school at age 3 at Linn County ARC, then went on to attend Washington Elementary in Marion, Noelridge School and lastly Options of Linn County before going to reside at Crestview Acres as her health declined. She enjoyed sports and participated in the Special Olympics.
She is survived by her parents, George and Barb Kopetsky; sisters, Teresa Ramos and Lisa Coffey; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; special cousins, Danette Madison and Danelle Kydd; nieces and nephews, Stephanie Hunt, Michelle and Nicole Coffey and Kristopher, Kalli, Kirsten and Kameron Ramos; and special friends, Lori Schmitz and Brooke Wagner.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents and her aunt, Mary.
The family would like to thank all the compassionate caregivers throughout her life, especially Tina and Ashley.
