Kimberly Kay Kurth, 63, of Anamosa, died Sunday, Nov. 5, ,2023 at her home surrounded by her loving husband and two daughters.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday morning, Nov. 9, 2023, at the Goettsch Funeral Home in Anamosa, Iowa. Friends may register after 10:30 a.m. Thursday morning until service time.
The family would like to greet friends at their home in Anamosa for a Celebration of Life from 1 to 3 p.m. following the formal service.
Surviving are her husband Ernest, two daughters, Lacey (Jack) Fletcher, Laura (Seth) Gerlach and a grandson, Hayes Fletcher; two brothers, Tim (Shelby) Hollett and Kevin, Hollett; and mother, JoAnne Hollett.
Kimberly Kay Hollett was born April 14, 1960, in Waterloo, Iowa, and was the daughter of JoAnne Albaugh Hollett. Kim graduated from Anamosa High School with the Class of 1978. She then continued her education at the American Institute of Business in Des Moines where she graduated in 1981 with an Associate of Business Degree, Majoring in Court Reporting. After graduation from AIB Kim became a freelance court reporter for many years. She then became a Certified Shorthand Court Reporter for the State of Iowa in 1990 and served the State of Iowa for over 30 years. Kim retired in May of 2023 to embrace her full “Gigi” duties to her Grandson, Hayes, whom she was sure to spoil as much as possible.
Kim and Ernie were married in 1984 and spent their time enjoying the things they loved, like going dancing or water skiing with their friends. Kim also enjoyed travelling with Ernie, many times to Arkansas to visit family to go boating and fishing with their girls, or going to Branson to see shows. Kim loved going to events for Lacey and Laura and spent most of her summers at barrel races cheering them on. When she wasn’t doing these things, she spent time gardening and had an eye for landscape and floral design. She prided herself in receiving “Yard of the Week” many summers. Kim was also an honorary attendee at the Cedar Rapids movie theatres where she could often be found catching multiple movies in a row.
Kim was a generous wife, mother, and friend and is loved by many.
