Kimball, Cathia 'Cathy' A.

Cathia “Cathy” A. Kimball, 47, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Wednesday, May 23, 2012, following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 26, at the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Marion. Pastor Dennis Johnson and Pastor Blair A'Hearn will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

Surviving are her husband, Michael A Kimball; her children, Benjamin and Anna Kimball; her parents, Charles and Helen Eales of Elmhurst, Ill.; her sisters, Cynthia Fields and husband Tim of Westfield, Ind., and Christina Soldano and husband Frank of Elmhurst, Ill.; and 11 nieces and nephews.

Cathy was born on Feb. 12, 1965, in Alton, Ill., to Charles and Helen (Lippoldt) Eales. She graduated from Alton High School as valedictorian of her class and a member of the National Honor Society. Cathy also graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in Electrical Engineering. She worked at Emerson Electric and Cummins Inc. Later she began the work she loved, caring for her family in her home. Cathy enjoyed scrap booking, knitting, sewing and cross stitching. Above all, she loved her family dearly. She will be greatly missed.

Memorial donations in Cathy's honor may be directed to the family to be used for her children's education.
