Kim Bulechek Sr., 68, of Solon, passed away on February 14, 2024, at the University of Iowa Hospital and clinics. As per Kim’s wishes private services will be held in Czech National Cemetery in Cedar Rapids. Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Solon are in charge of arrangements.
Kim Sr. was born on August 5, 1955, in Cedar Rapids to James and Mary (Bisek) Bulechek Sr.
Kim Sr. always had a skill for working with his hands, starting at his Dad’s Auto Clinic in Solon working with automotive and small engine repairs. He worked for both the City of Solon for 20+ years and the Solon Community School District. Kim always enjoyed gardening and taking care of his lawn, tinkering with his Wheel Horse tractors. He had an Z28 Camaro that he enjoyed rebuilding and a love for snowmobiling that he shared with his son Kim Jr. for many years. Helping local farmers with projects and repairs also gave him great joy.
Kim Sr. is survived by his son Kim (Shelley) Bulechek Jr.; two granddaughters, Alayna and Alyson; brother Jim (Gloria) Bulechek Jr.; all of Solon; nephew Mark (Wende) Bulechek also from Solon; niece Jennifer (Steve) Devereux of Cedar Rapids. The family would like to express gratitude to the people who cared for and helped Kim Sr. later in life.
He is preceded in death by his parents Jim Sr. and Mary Bulechek.
Memorials may be directed to The Solon American Legion or to the Solon Community Food Pantry.
