Kiefer, Leatta Jorgensen
Leatta Jorgensen Kiefer, 89, died Dec. 7, 2010, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Private memorial services will be held, with inurnment in Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories Mausoleum in Cedar Rapids. Arrangements by Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Leatta was born July 28, 1921, and was adopted by Blanche and Laurence Jorgensen of Lost Nation, Iowa. She graduated from high school in Lost Nation and was active in music performance. She graduated from Coe College in 1943 where she pursued a music career in vocal performance. She married Lloyd Kiefer in 1944; they were later divorced. She taught private piano and voice music lessons for 62 years.
She loved to fish and enjoyed traveling.
Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the joy of her life.
Leatta was a member of the United Church of Christ in Central City, a member of Pythian Sisters, treasurer of Literary and Music Club for 25 years, lifetime member of Central City Historical Society, and a 50-year member of Eastern Star.
