Kevin P. Wright, 64, of Marion, Iowa, passed away Sunday, Jan. 17, 2021. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 21, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion. Funeral service: noon Friday, Jan. 22, at the funeral home. Burial: Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion. All guests are respectfully requested to wear a face mask and practice social distancing.
Kevin was born in Cedar Rapids on Jan. 23, 1956, the son of Arlo "Lefty" and Mary (Schatzle) Wright. He graduated from Alburnett High School and was united in marriage to Debra Johnston on April 8, 1978, in Nashua, Iowa. Kevin was employed at Ingredion for over 30 years, and was loved by many of his co-workers, retiring in 2020. There were no strangers to Kevin; his good nature ensured that he made instant friends. He loved to visit with family and loved ones, was a hard-working man and always willing to lend a helping hand.
Kevin is survived by his children, Jacob Wright, Jared Wright and Justin (Sara) Wright; grandsons, Cole, Ethan and Nolan Wright; sister, Kris (Bud) Blackford; brothers, Craig (Jackie) Wright and Kent (Betty) Wright; and many cherished extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his father, Arlo "Lefty" Wright; mother, Mary Streif; his beloved wife, Debbie; father-in-law, Robert Johnston; and mother-in-law, Dorothy Ryan Johnston.
A memorial fund has been established in memory of Kevin.
