Kevin D. Svoboda, 57, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Friday, April 18, 2014, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. A memorial gathering celebrating Kevin's life will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. A private family graveside will be held in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include his mother, Nola J. Svoboda of Cedar Rapids; sister, Karen Svoboda of Cedar Rapids; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents; father, Richard L. Svoboda; several aunts and uncles.
Kevin Dean Svoboda was born March 6, 1957, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Nola J. (Faulkner) and Richard L. Svoboda. He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1975. Kevin was a deputy sheriff for Linn County for 26 years until his retirement in 2010. He most recently has worked as a security guard for PMX Industries.
