Kevin Ray Strong, 57, of Cedar Rapids, passed away peacefully at his home Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017. The family will celebrate Kevin's life with family and friends at their home on Wednesday, Feb. 22, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Please dress like Kevin would. Teahen Funeral Home is serving the family.
Kevin is survived by his wife, Betty; two daughters, Tabbatha and Kaylin Strong, both of Cedar Rapids; a son, Zack (Stephanie) Strong of Boise, Idaho; five grandchildren, Madalynn, Sophia, Zylis, Sansa and Corey; his mother, Frances Lee Strong of Jacksonville, Fla.; two brothers, Tim Strong of Jacksonville, Fla., and Kelly Strong of Mobile, Ala.; and a sister, Joy Strong of Winston-Salem, NC.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ben Strong.
Kevin was born July 21, 1959, in San Diego, Calif., the son of Ben and Frances Myers Strong. He married Betty Allison on Dec. 17, 1981, in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Kevin honorably served in the U.S. Navy from 1978 to 1992. He had been actively employed at the Duane Arnold Energy Center since September 1992.
Kevin was a loving husband, father and grandfather who devoted his every breath to his family. He was an avid Trekkie, may he boldly go where no man has gone before. He also enjoyed watching movies, anything zombie and sports of all kinds.
