Kevin Reno Walter was born May 25, 1950 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Reno Henry Arthur and Juanita May (Schlotterbeck) Walter. He attended the Lutheran Interparish School and graduated from Clear Creek High School in 1968. Kevin was united in marriage to Carol Ann Westemeier on June 19, 1971, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids. Kevin was employed at Centro, Inc. for 43 years before retiring in 2014. He was a mold manager, maintenance manager, and helped get the North Carolina division started before retiring. Kevin was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, near Williamsburg and a former member of the Swisher Men’s Club. He enjoyed playing cards, especially Euchre, billiards and working on the farm. Kevin died on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at the Colonial Manor Care Center, in Amana, at the age of 74 years.
He is survived by a daughter Kris Walter of Oxford; a son Dan (Kathy) Walter of West Memphis, Arkansas; four grandchildren Angel, Caden, Emily & Jasmine Walter; two brothers Todd (Lori) Walter of Oxford and Duane (Jane) Walter of Swisher; and two brothers-in-law Carl Westemeier of Cedar Rapids and Alvin (Pam) Westemeier of Coggon. He was preceded by his parents, wife Carol, and father- & mother-in-law Ray and Leona Westemeier.
A Celebration Of Life Service will be held 10:30 am on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Williamsburg. Burial will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday, from 4:00 - 7:00 pm at the Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg. Memorials may be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church or Essence of Life Hospice.
