Kessler, Cecilia Marie

Cecilia Marie Kessler, 86, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, Aug. 27, 2012, in her home after a short illness. Services: 10 a.m. Friday, St. Patrick Catholic Church, by the Rev. Ivan Nienhaus. Burial: St. Joseph Cemetery. A rosary will be held 4 p.m. Thursday at Teahen Funeral Home where friends may visit from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and after 9 a.m. Friday at the church.

Cecilia is survived by her husband, Clarence; two sons, James and John (Amy) Kessler, all of Cedar Rapids; and a sister, Bernadine (Marvin) Goody of Lone Tree.

She was preceded in death by her son, Gary; and her siblings, Melvin, James and Cleo Lynch and Lenora Burr.

Cecilia was born in Hills on Sept. 20, 1925, the daughter of James and Blanche Vedepo Lynch. She married Clarence Joseph Kessler on Dec. 28, 1948, in Iowa City, and was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. She retired in 1991 from Quaker Oats where she had been employed for 22 years.

Cecilia loved working in the garden and spending time with her family.
