Kerscher, William J.
William J. Kerscher, 84, of Central City, died due to complications of pancreatic cancer on Tuesday, March 20, 2012, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 23, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Central City, by Pastor Sam Dronebarger. The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home in Central City. Private graveside service: Mount Clark Cemetery, Central City.
Survivors include his children, Pamela (Harry) Durocher of Pepperell, Mass., Steven (Alma) Brandenburg of Hamilton, Ohio and Marc (Kathi) Kerscher of Central City; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and wife, Connie.
William was born Jan. 11, 1928, in Columbus, Ohio, the son of Leo and Veronica (Doran) Kerscher. He attended school in Columbus, graduating in 1946. William was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served from 1946 to 1948. He married Connie King on Nov. 17, 1958, in Hamilton, Ohio. Connie died Dec. 13, 2007. William worked for Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids for 25 years. He was scoutmaster for Troop 44 and had served as president of J.C. Clegg Library in Central City.
