Kepros, Cecelia A.
Cecelia A. Kepros, 58, of Marion, died Thursday, May 2, 2013, at her home. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 7, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marion, by Father David O'Conner. The family will greet friends one hour before the service at the church on Tuesday. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion.
Survivors include her husband of 34 years, Michael; son, Dr. Christopher Kepros of Santa Teresa, N.M.; and siblings, Kathleen Webster of Ely, Maureen (David) Carson of Solon, Rita (Lewis) Smith of Parnell, John (Vicki) Scanlon of Cedar Rapids and Jim (Connie) Scanlon of South English. Also surviving are 14 nieces and nephews and many grandnieces and grandnephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Mary Kinyon and Theresa Scanlon; and brother-in-law, Jim Webster.
Cecelia was born Feb. 9, 1955, in Williamsburg, Iowa, the daughter of John Patrick and Mary Frances (Ryan) Scanlon. She married Michael J. Kepros on May 12, 1979, in Marion. Cecelia worked as a nurse for over 19 years. She took great pride in having earned her nursing degree from Mount Mercy College in Cedar Rapids at the age of 39.
Cecelia enjoyed the outdoors, especially gardening and growing all types of flowers. She also enjoyed cross-stitching, embroidery, and reading.
In lieu of flowers, friends may make contributions for Mass offerings.
