Kenton Luke Zenor, 65, of Robins, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa, with his wife and daughters by his side. Visitation will take place from 4 - 7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The family will hold a Private Memorial Service.
Kenton was born on September 9, 1959, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Norman and Mary Lou (Hunter) Zenor. He was a 1977 graduate of Kennedy High School. On October 18, 1980, Kenton was united in marriage to Diane Andrews in Cedar Rapids. He worked for Alliant Energy and the Cedar Rapids School District, until his recent retirement in 2023. Kenton was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, The Cedar Amateur Astronomers, and he was a former member of the Robins Fire Department. He was an avid fisherman and loved camping and woodworking. Kenton enjoyed astronomy and was a die-hard Steelers and Iowa Wrestling fan. Kenton will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Kenton is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife, Diane; two daughters, Katie (Deryk) Simmons and Kelli (Brandon) Waldorf; three grandchildren, Grant, Bentleigh, and Briley; his mother, Mary Lou Zenor; two brothers, Glenn (Jean) Zenor, and Winston (Deann) Zenor; mother-in-law, Helen Andrews; sisters-in-law, Janet and Connie; and brother-in-law, Jeff.
He was preceded in death by his father, Norman Zenor.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Kenton’s memory may be directed to the family.
The family would like to extend a special thank-you to the doctors and staff at Mercy Medical Center as well as the Medical Intensive Care Unit at the University of Iowa Hospital for the care given to Kenton during his final days.
