Kent W. Jessen, 64, of Strawberry Point, died May 26, 2015, at his home following a short illness.
He was born in Manchester on Nov. 2, 1950, the son of John (Jack) and Ruth (Ruegnitz) Jessen. Kent graduated from Starmont High School in 1969.
On Sept. 27, 1969, Kent was united in marriage to Linda Lechnir at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church in Prairie du Chien, Wis. Two daughters, Aimee and Annie, were born to this union. Kent and his family lived in Strawberry Point, where he worked for his father and later co-owned Jessen's Super Valu with his brother, Terry. He then owned and operated the grocery store with his wife, Linda, from 1994 until 1998, when they embarked on a new adventure of long haul trucking.
Kent enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. Some of his favorite hobbies were boating, fishing, listening to music and channel surfing into the wee hours of the morning.
Survivors include his wife, Linda, of Strawberry Point; his children, Aimee (Kent) Streicher of Mount Vernon and Annie Jessen of Pleasant Hill; three grandchildren, Jack, Kendra and Camryn Streicher of Mount Vernon; his brother, Terry (Jackie) of Vinton; his brothers-in-law, Mike (Kate) Lechnir and Pat Lechnir of Spooner, Wis.; a sister-in-law, Judy (Bruce) Gillitzer of Prairie du Chien, Wis.; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Kent was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Ruth Jessen.

Funeral services: 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 29, at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Strawberry Point, with Pastor Mike Jackson officiating. Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 28, at the funeral home. Friends also may call an hour before the service at the funeral home on Friday. Interment: Cass Township Cemetery, Strawberry Point.
