Kent Charles Connelly
Solon
The calendar pages turned much too fast and on November 10, 2024 Kent Charles Connelly entered his eternal resting place that was promised.
Kent was born on March 6, 1941 and was a life-long Solon resident. He was a graduate of Solon High School, attended the University of Iowa, and found his calling as an electrician being a 55-year member of IBEW Local 405.
Kent was an engineer at heart, master carpenter, and self-made machinist. A challenge rarely escaped him and he was a mentor to all, especially his children and grandchildren. His quietness was often noted and to this his response was “you learn more from listening” with a delightful grin. Kent lived by his own standard of excellence and rarely took short cuts. His humble motto was “do it right the first time and let your work speak for itself.” He spent hours drawing up well thought-out plans before building anything - the finished product being of professional quality that was built to last.
His unwavering love for his family will continue to be cherished by his wife of 58 years, Diana; his children Krista (Mark) Fischer, and Chad (Teri) Connelly; grandchildren Beau and Collin Fischer, Kirsten (Tyler) Ploog, Chase Connelly; bonus grandchildren Jadyn and Katlyn Jeter; and great-grandson Carver Ploog, an inherited reward; sisters Phyllis Marshall, Charlene (Bill) Anderson, and Sandra Mooney; sisters-in-law Carol Snider and Judy Thirtyacre.
He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Doris, brothers-in-law David Marshall, Dennis Mooney, Frank Snider, and Karl Gould.
In agreement with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family service will be held at a later date. Memorials can be made to Iowa City Hospice or the Solon Fire Department in Kent’s name. Online condolences may be left at iowacremation.com under obituaries.
