Kenny James Snitker, 56, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 12, 2022, at his home in Blairstown, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 18, at the Blairstown Legion Hall, with the Rev. Jeffrey Schanbacher officiating. Interment will be held at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Blairstown. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, also at the Legion Hall. Phillips Funeral Home, Blairstown, is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be directed to Essence of Life Hospice.
Kenny was born on Feb. 10, 1966, in Waterloo, the son of Kenneth W. and Theresa (Mohs) Snitker, and graduated from Benton Community High School with the class of 1984. Kenny also graduated from the University of Iowa, with a Bachelor's degree in accounting, and later attended A.I.B. in Des Moines. On Sept. 19, 1998, he was united in marriage to Theresa Emig in Blairstown.
Kenny worked as a senior billing analyst for Verizon since 1995. He served his community as a volunteer fireman with the Blairstown Volunteer Fire Department and he and Theresa also served on the Blairstown Sauerkraut Days committee. Kenny loved to shoot pool and was a member of a pool league. He was an avid outdoorsman and truly loved fishing and hunting in his spare time.
He is survived by his wife, Theresa; his children, Nickolas Miller of Vinton, Noel (Jacob) Hollister of Marengo and Christopher Miller of Vinton; two grandchildren, Bailey and Ayden Hollister; his parents, Kenneth W. and Theresa Snitker of Williamsburg; brother, Kevin (Kim) Snitker of Blairstown; two nephews, Tyler (Kristen) Snitker and their daughter, Raya, Jaxson Snitker; and his niece, Chelsea (Justin) Moser and their children, Shyla and Vincent
He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents.
