Kenneth Wayne Brill, 78, of Amherst, Ohio, died Friday, Oct. 27, 2023, at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain, Ohio, with his loved ones by his side. Born on Oct. 14, 1945, in Lorain, he was the son of the late Kenneth Conrad and Arlene (nee Schon) Brill. Ken was a 1963 graduate of Wellington High School. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Kent State University and a Master’s degree from the University of Iowa.
Ken was an elementary teacher for over 30 years, first in Elyria, Ohio, and then in Cleveland before moving to Iowa, where he spent the majority of his career. He was a member of Phi Delta Kappa Honorary Society and a recipient of the Danforth Fellowship in Education. Ken enjoyed gardening, baking and playing bridge and he cherished his two dogs, Tyler and Kelsea.
Survivors include his partner, Larry Render; brother, Richard (Janice) Brill; nephew, Charles (Stacy) Beall; nieces, Jennifer Todten and Jessica Brill; great-nieces, Mackenzie and Karalynn Todten, and Sadie Beall; great-nephew, Landon Beall; and special friends Frank and Georgene Bosich and Ann and Hank Frizzi. Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Arlene Brill; and a sister, Terry Lee Brill Beall.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ken’s memory may be directed to Mercy New Life Hospice, 3500 Kolby RD, Lorain, OH 44053.
