Kenneth Turney Gibbs, age 75, died July 25, 2023, in Atlanta, GA, after a long illness. Kenneth was born in 1948, in Chelsea, MA, to CDR Howard Ben Gibbs and Mrs. Doris Turney Gibbs. He received a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Architectural History from the University of Virginia and subsequently received his Doctor of Philosophy in Architectural History from Cornell University.
Kenneth was a published author, with works in the field of architectural history, and worked for many years for the State of Georgia in the Historic Preservation Division. An accomplished pianist, he enjoyed classical music and his extensive record collection. He also enjoyed gardening, keeping journals, and identifying plantings by scientific name. He took great pleasure in nature, hiking throughout the country.
Kenneth is survived by his brother, Randy (Cheryl) Gibbs of Ann Arbor, MI, and his sister, Beth (Preston) Johnson of Mount Vernon, IA, as well as special friend Marie Matthews and many nieces and nephews. Burial was at Greenlawn Cemetery in Plattsburg, MO.
