Kenneth Paul Turnbull, 81, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2016, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Funeral services: 3 p.m. Monday, Oct. 3, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. A visitation will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2, at Cedar Memorial Chapel Stateroom. Entombment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Kenneth was born March 22, 1935, the son of James and Grace (Waddington) Turnbull, in Cedar Rapids. On June 24, 1968, he was married to Shirley Ann Convey. Kenneth worked as a laborer for Quaker Oats for 43 years. He was quite the handy man, tinkering with cars, stereos and televisions. Kenneth was very fond of animals. He loved his cats, Missy and Callie. Kenneth even took the time to care for a stray cat.
More than anything, he loved his family. He was a caring husband, father and grandfather, and will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Turnbull; four daughters, Kathy Chesmore, Peggy (Ron) Turnis, Ruth Ann (Tim Wilson) Turnbull and Sharon (Dewayne) Wilson; six grandchildren, Stephanie (Audrina) Anderson, Matthew Chesmore, Kayla Turnis, Allisun Elliot, Mary Martin and James Luke; brother, Jack Turnbull; sister-in-law, Emma Turnbull; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Wayne, Harold James, Leslie and Delbert; and sister, Margaret.
