Kenneth "Ken" Dean Thompson, 59, of Washington, Iowa, formerly of Cedar Rapids, went to join our Heavenly Father on Monday, April 25, 2016, after a long battle with illness. Funeral services: 3 p.m. Saturday, April 30, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, Cedar Rapids. A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 29, at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include his son, Kenneth LeMoine Thompson of Washington; granddaughter, Tessa Archibald of Cedar Rapids; mother, Norma (Dave) Snow of Marion; sister, Laura (Blake) Inlow of Glendale, Ariz.; and brother, Brett (Krissy) Thompson of Garner, Iowa. Also surviving are aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Ken was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth LeMoine Thompson; and grandparents, William and Cora Thompson and George and Olive Henry.
Ken was born Oct. 1, 1956, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Kenneth and Norma. He attended Kirkwood Community College and was a Navy veteran.
He was a devoted father to his beloved son, Kenneth LeMoine. He loved playing pool, his Harley Davidson, fishing and traveling. Ken had a strong belief in God and loyalty to his family and friends, and shared joy with those he met in life's journey.
He will be greatly missed by those of us blessed to know him.
