Kenneth Charles Schwarzhoff, 75, of Manchester, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2016, suddenly, at his daughter's residence in Malakoff, Texas.
He was born May 10, 1941, in New Albin, the son of Freeman and Druscilla (McKee) Schwarzhoff. During the early part of his life, Ken was raised and educated in New Albin. The family then moved to Manchester.
On May 4, 1963, Ken was united in marriage to Elaine McGrane at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Manchester. Two children were born to this union. Ken worked as a union painter and was a member of Local 447.
He also was a fur buyer and founder of Coffins Creek Furs since 1980. Ken was a lifelong member of Fur Takers of North America and held the elected office of president. He was a legendary trapper, a hunter and an avid fisherman. He was a member of the team that brought otters back to Iowa. Ken loved the outdoors and enjoyed spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Elaine Schwarzhoff of Manchester; one daughter, Lisa (Trace) Moffatt of Malakoff, Texas; one son, Kevin (Molly) Schwarzhoff of Troy Mills; five grandchildren, Marissa Penney, Jason Schwarzhoff, Ellie Schwarzhoff, Katie Schwarzhoff and Jackson Schwarzhoff; and one sister, Alty Malone of Marion.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Edwin Dale Schwarzhoff.
