Kenneth D. Newman, 67, of Lamont, passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2017, at Manchester Regional Medical Center. The family will greet friends from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Monday, May 15, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion. Following visitation, burial will take place at Dunkard Cemetery, Toddville.
Survivors include his wife, Janice; mother, Esther; and siblings, CJ Jackson of Reno, Nev., and Dennis Newman of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his father; and his brother, Gary Newman.
Kenneth was born Aug. 30, 1949, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Shannon and Esther (Beitz) Newman. He graduated from Alburnett High School in 1967. Kenneth served in the U.S. Navy from 1970 to 1976 during the Vietnam War. On Feb. 14, 1978, Kenneth was united in marriage to Janice Berger at Church of Christ in Toddville. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and being outdoors. He also loved helping his family and friends.
