Kenneth Lacina, 85, of Iowa City, passed away Saturday, Feb. 22, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. A visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25, at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26, at the funeral home. A private family burial will follow the service.
Memorials can be made to the Johnson County Heritage Trust.
Kenneth Richard Lacina was born June 18, 1928, in rural Johnson County, to James and Frieda Lacina. He was a 1946 graduate of Iowa City High School. Kenneth married Gloria Mathis on Aug. 9, 1950, at Congregational United Church of Christ in Iowa City. Together, Kenneth and Gloria had three daughters.
Kenneth served in the Army in Korea during the Korean War. He retired from Home Town Dairies after more than 30 years.
Survivors include his wife, Gloria; daughters, Dawn McKenzie (Dave), Sandra Lacina and Melody Lacina (Matthew Silver-berg); grandchildren, Erin Brown (Dave) and James McKenzie (Jenny); great-grandchildren, McKenzie Brown, Isabel Brown and Charlie McKenzie; sisters, Arlene Fadness, Vivian Hettrick, Ruby Nelson, Norma Newell and Frieda Lacina; sister-in-law, Diana Durham; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Eunice Soper.
