Kenneth Myron Palmer was born November 30, 1927, in Parkersburg, IA, the son of Herman Steege and Elmyra (Dingman) Palmer. He graduated from high school in Parkersburg with the class of 1945. While in high school he worked for Chamberlain Manufacturing to support the war effort. After high school he moved to Michigan where his mother had a small farm he helped with and he also worked at M & R Food Manufacturing. Kenny met Angeline Ardeth Kannegieter and they were united in marriage at the Methodist Church in LaGrange, IN. Angie was also from Parkersburg, and the couple moved back to Iowa to farm. They settled in rural Quasqueton, where they raised their family and farmed for over 65 years.
Kenny loved to travel, and he enjoyed planning trips “out west” for family vacations. He also loved to fish and would take multiple trips per year to fish in Canada. Kenny was a farmer and worked hard over the years. He took great pride in his cattle and the calves he sold. Kenny was a member of the Quasqueton Union Church and enjoyed being in the choir. His musical talents lead him to sing for countless funerals over the years.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Angie Palmer of Quasqueton, IA; one son, Steve (Patti) Palmer of Springfield, MO; one daughter, LuAnn (Tim) Kadlec of Winterset, IA; five grandchildren, Brandon Palmer, Trent (Danielle) Palmer, Olivia Tebben, Taylor (Marc) Ellingson, Jordan (Paige) Kadlec; nine great grandchildren, Grayson, Hudson, Leo, Elijah, Lars, Soren, Emma, George, Harvey; and many nieces and nephews.
