Kenneth “Ken” Roger Kalous, 80, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2022, at Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha, Iowa. A memorial gathering will take place at a later date. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, is assisting the family.
Ken was born Feb. 28, 1942, in Ely, Iowa, the son of Robert and Helen (Netolicky) Kalous. He graduated from Prairie High School. Ken was united in marriage to Patricia “Patty” Vomacka on Feb. 28, 2006, in Las Vegas, Nev. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for Rathje Construction. Ken will be missed by those who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia “Patty” Kalous; stepson, Jason (Mary) Powers; daughters, Kristine (Clayton) Moore and Kara Kalous; grandchildren, Caitlin (Brandon) Bickford, Jack Powers, Terrell Sykes and Braylon Briscoe; great-grandchildren, Emmet, Irie, Emersyn and Oaklen; brothers, Lee (Donna) Kalous and Duane (Carol) Kalous; sisters-in-law, Linda Hasson and Mary Vomacka; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents.
