Kenneth “Ken” L. Schueler, 81, died Sunday, June 5, 2022 at UnityPoint Hospice in Cedar Rapids with his family by his side.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, June 8, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Vinton, with the Rev. Stephen Preus officiating. Private family interment will follow at Maplewood Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1 until 3:45 p.m. Wednesday also at the church.
Ken was born on Aug. 19, 1940, on the family farm in rural Benton County to his parents, Louie and Etta (Hoeck) Schueler. He graduated from Van Horne High School in 1958. He was married to Joyce (Long) on Aug. 3, 1962. Ken worked at Hawk Bilt in Vinton for many years, and later for Highway Equipment Co. in Cedar Rapids until his retirement.
Ken was a very generous man who donated to many charities and would always have your favorite treat if you would come to visit. Ken loved to go to the casino and play scratch off tickets. More than gambling Ken loved his family; especially when they would all gather for holidays and play cards.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce; daughter, Dawn (Doug) Yenser; sons, Lance (Solveigh) and Wade (Kim) Schueler; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents, Louis and Henrietta; sisters, Louise and Edna; great-grandson, Easton Lindeman; and great-granddaughter, Brielle Wilson.
