Kenneth ("Kenny") H. Kadera, 76, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, Nov. 7, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Jude Catholic Church. Burial: St. Joseph Cemetery with military honors by the American Legion Pekomy Post 572 of Fairfax. A vigil service will be held at 4 p.m. Monday at Teahen Funeral Home. Friends may visit with the family Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. and Tuesday at the church after 9 a.m.
Kenny was born on March 4, 1938, in Johnson County to Harvey and Anna (Jindrich) Kadera. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Korea for 16 months. He married Jane Ann Kalb on Aug. 8, 1963. He earned his associate arts degree at Kirkwood Community College and he attended Coe College.
He is survived by Jane Ann, his wife of 51 years; four children, Steven Kadera of Cedar Rapids, Jill (Mark) Hellmer of Oakton, Va., Susan (James) Schulze of Yorba Linda, Calif., and Carla (Tony) Krivanek of Southlake, Texas; eight grandchildren, Jasmine and Brandon Hellmer, John, Elizabeth and Lillian Schulze, and Michael, Ava and Jacob Krivanek; two sisters, Dorothy Moynihan and Louellen Svec; brother-in-law Pete Kalb and sister-in-law Jeannie Kalb; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Kenny was preceded in death by his son, Michael; his parents; and his brothers-in-law, Arnold Svec and John Moynihan.
Kenny worked at Link Belt/FMC and retired from Goss Graphic Systems. He enjoyed NASCAR racing, country music and collecting toy banks.
A memorial fund has been established in Kenny's name.
