Kenneth A. Johnson, 77, died Monday, Sept. 11, 2017, at the Dennis & Donna Hospice House in Hiawatha following a courageous battle with cancer. To honor his wishes, Kenneth was cremated. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 15, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Norway with Father Joseph Butz C.S.S.R. and Father Robert Butz as co-celebrants. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time. Interment will be held at St. Michael's Cemetery in Norway with graveside military rites.
Kenneth was born in Waukon, on April 20, 1940, to Earl and Norma (Halvorson) Johnson. He attended Waukon public schools. He then earned an AAS degree in electronic engineering at Area 10 Community College in Cedar Rapids. Kenneth served his nation in the U.S. Navy from 1958 to 1962. He was a member of the John Ward McGranahan American Legion Post No. 167 of Newhall. On April 20, 1963, he was united in marriage to Donna Butz in Norway. Prior to his retirement, he was employed at as electronic tech at LeFebure Corp. in Cedar Rapids. Kenneth enjoyed being an amateur radio operator.
He is survived by his wife, Donna of Newhall; his daughters, Christine Petersen of Van Horne, Cindy Intribus of Fond du Lac, Wis., Shellie Johnson of Newhall and Susan Johnson of Cedar Rapids; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and his brother, Steve Johnson of Waukon.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Scott Allan Johnson; one granddaughter; and his sisters, Audrey Jean Reeder and Sharon Jackson.
