KENNETH HANSEN Anamosa Kenneth "Kenny" William Hansen, 76, passed away peacefully Thursday, April 17, 2014, at his home in Anamosa. A celebration of Kenny's life will be held Sunday, April 27, at the National Motorcycle Museum, Anamosa, from 1 to 5 p.m. Kenny was born Dec. 11, 1937, on the family farm near Massillon, Iowa. He attended schools in the Wyoming, Iowa, area. He was a member of the United States Army, serving in Germany from 1961 to 1963, with The Big Red One. He married Donna Lee Ahrendsen. He retired from Walnut Grove Feeds after 35 years of working. Kenny is survived by his wife, Donna; and sons, Robert (Renee) Ahrendsen of Cedar Rapids and Bryon (Deb) Ahrendsen of Anamosa. He was "Papa" to four special grandchildren, Brandon, Dakota, Kenner and Dalton Ahrendsen. Also surviving are his faithful feline companion, Merlin; and also Novella Alfes and Sonja Spicer; his brothers, Robert (Jane) Hansen, Olin, Larry Hansen, Anamosa, and Norman Hansen, Mon-ticello; as well as nu-merous sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews. Kenny was preceded in death by his parents, William and Else Hansen, and his son, Jeff Ahrendsen. Kenny is also survived by special friends, Phyllis and Don Michels, and their dog, Moses; and Cindy and Kurt Gunther, and their dogs, Muggs and Rudy. Kenny was a caring friend to many and had a myriad of extraordinary animal companions throughout his lifetime. He was passionate about NASCAR and had a special spot for Carl Edwards. We will miss him.
