Kenneth G. "Friday" Mikulas, 74, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, Nov. 15, 2015, at his home. Family will greet friends from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home conducted by Deacon Dan Hoeger. Luncheon will follow at the Legacy Center at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids. Burial: St. John's Cemetery at a later date.
Survivors include his wife, Pat Mikulas of Cedar Rapids; children, Susan (Dewayne) Kimble, Barry Mikulas and Beth Tenney, all of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren, Scott (Melissa), Elijah, Hailey, Jordon, Gabriella and Lexi; and four great-grandchildren, Sommer, Dylan, Skyanne and Alex.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Kenneth was born on March 21, 1941, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Emil and Mary Mikulas and adopted by Charles Wolanek. He graduated from Washington High School in 1958. Kenneth served in the U.S. Navy, serving in the South Pacific on the aircraft carrier the USS Ticonderoga. He later worked as a machinist in California until he married Patricia Ward in 1966. The couple moved to Cedar Rapids in 1973, where he worked for FMC, CRSD where he was a driver, Cherry Burrell, Iowa Precision and other various manufacturers.
Kenneth was a member of the Izaak Walton League and the NRA. He loved playing cards and shooting pool. Kenneth collected beer cans and car banks. He enjoyed old cars. Kenneth was very proud of his Czech Heritage.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
