Kenneth E. Moon, age 81, of Cedar Rapids, IA, passed away at Grand Living in Cedar Rapids, on Friday, September 13, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
A visitation will be held at the Westminster Presbyterian Church on Thursday, October 3, 2024, from 10 AM until service time at 11 AM with Pastor Roger Grandia officiating. Inurnment to follow at the Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Kenneth was born on November 20, 1942, in Glendale, CA. He was the son of the late Kenneth L. and Avis (Lanning) Moon. He was a 1960 graduate of Washington High School, then attended the University of Iowa for a short time, then received a Business degree from Kirkwood Community College on June 1, 1974. On June 15, 1974, Kenneth married the love of his life, Robyn Long. He enjoyed WWII movies and books, as well as building and flying model airplanes. He loved to tinker and fix things that were broken. Kenneth was a part of the CB Radio Club in his younger years and was a lifelong Iowa Hawkeye Football fan. Kenny was a member of his high school class reunion committees. He worked at Merchant’s Bank for 28 years before he was building computers and fixing them at APEX computers and also Barb’s Computers.
Those left to cherish Kenneth’s memory are his wife, Robyn of Cedar Rapids, IA; his sister, Annis Bear (friend Ric Roberts) of Preston, IA; his nephews, Philip Bear of Preston, IA, and Karl (Molly) Bear of Plymouth, MN; a great-nephew, Leon Moonbear; and his cat, Maddie. He was preceded in death by his parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to a charity of one’s choice.
The family would like to thank Grand Living staff and caregivers, and St. Croix Hospice for the wonderful care during his illness. Also thanks to Dr. James Bell St. Luke’s Palliative Care. His CNAs and nurses often spoke of Kenny’s sweetness and his appreciation of his caregivers.
