Kenneth “Bear” W. Stalkfleet, 68, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, formerly of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 11, 2022, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Cedar Rapids, with Pastor Nick Grove officiating. A celebration of life will follow at the Moose Lodge, 1820 West Post Rd. SW, Cedar Rapids.
Bear was born Sept. 19, 1953, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Richard and Mildred “Sally” (Carrel) Stalkfleet. He was a graduate of Marion High School. On Aug. 15, 1990, Bear married Debra Rae Throgmartin in Cedar Rapids. He had a love of softball and baseball and was inducted into Cedar Rapids Softball Hall of Fame in 2011, serving as secretary for the past 10 years. Bear was an avid golfer having achieved four holes-in-one. He spent his time coaching and attending his kids and grandkids games, always cheering them on. Bear will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Bear is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife of 32 years, Debra Stalkfleet of Cedar Rapids; children, Casey (Jason) Wells of Marion, William “Billy” (Karee) Stalkfleet of Marion, Patrick (Jacqueline) Stalkfleet of Marion, Josh (Dawn) Peek of Cedar Rapids, Cory (Shawn) Hall of Palo, Iowa, and Jesse (Christina) Throgmartin of Cedar Rapids; 16 grandchildren; one great-grandchildren; and siblings, Tommy Stalkfleet of Marion, Sandy (Lloyd) Henderson of Marion and Debbie Young (Boyd Strong) of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Steve, Tony and Bobby Stalkfleet; and sister, Susan Moyle.
