Kemp Xavier Sherrod Harriel, 26, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2023. Family and friends my visit with the family on Saturday, Nov. 4, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Teahen Funeral Home.
Kemp is survived by his father and stepmother, Abdul (Jill) Harriel; sisters, Cassandra Sykes and Sarajl Harriel; brother, Cuame Harriel; sisters Camrea King and Iesha Turner; grandmother, Queenella Harriel; grandfather, Abdul Stewart; stepfather, Xavier Sykes Sr.; and a host of loving extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Cammie Randle; grandmother, Cammie Thomas; grandfather, Homer Randle; two brothers, Xavier Sykes Jr. and Caiden King; and special grandfather through marriage, Larry Thomas.
Kemp was born on Nov. 7, 1996, in Chicago, Ill., son of Abdul Harriel and Cammie Randle. He graduated in 2016 from Washington High School. Kemp was a cook at the Irish Democrat.
Kemp was a very adventurous person, who loved taking trips, having fun and being a jokester. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Instead of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
