Kelly Sr., Thomas Franklin
Thomas Franklin Kelly Sr., 96, of Cedar Rapids, passed on Monday, Sept. 23, 2013, at Higley Mansion. Funeral Service will be at 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Friends may call one hour before the service beginning at 2 p.m. on Friday at the chapel. Following the service a gathering, in Tom's honor, will be held at 5 p.m. at the Irish Democrat.
Thomas Franklin Kelly was born Jan. 5, 1917, in Arnolds Park, Iowa, the son of James and Harriett (Bedford) Kelly. Tom worked for many years as a Realtor.
He is survived by his three children, Mary Kay Trainer of Cedar Rapids, Thomas (Mary) Kelly of Hendersonville, N.C., and Barbara (David) Aragon of Littleton, Colo. Tom was the proud grandparent of John Kelly, Laurie Cowley, Andrea Sand, Todd Cook, Ryan, Amanda, Brett Aragon, Julie Kelly-Koenig and Lisa Nelson; and 11 great- grandchildren. Above all his greatest enjoyment was his family, especially his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; spouse, Bernice Kelley; significant other, Pauline Binko (2008); a daughter, Kathleen Cook; four brothers, Jack, Leland, Lex and Bill Kelly; and two sisters, Mary Rolison and Margaret Kelly.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
