Kelley, Thomas G.
Thomas G. Kelley, 89, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2011, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City following complications from a fall. Services: 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Jude Catholic Church, by the Rev. Mark Reasoner. Burial: Linwood Cemetery. A vigil service will be held 4:30 p.m. Friday at Teahen Funeral Home, where friends may visit from 4 to 7 p.m. Friends may also visit after 9 a.m. Saturday at the church. Military honors presented by American Legion Post 727.
Thomas is survived by his daughter, Connie (Tom) Zenisek of Cedar Rapids; son, Tom Kelley of Marion; three grandchildren, Jon, Brad and Kelli; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Joseph; and sister, Lillian Edwards.
Thomas was born March 18, 1921, in Oxford, the son of Thomas and Elleanor (Hinek) Kelley. He graduated from Wilson High School. From 1943-1945, he served his country in the Navy during World War II. During his lifetime Thomas was known as a hard worker. He worked at Turner Microphone, Barnes Tool and Die Co., was associated with Lucky Trophies, and worked at the Abbe Center as a courier. Thomas was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church.
