Kelci jo (Schatzle) Smith
Cape Coral, Fla.
Kelci (Schatzle) Smith passed away due to complications from Covid on Aug. 27, 2023, at the age of 36.
Kelci is survived by her parents, Kevin and Cheryl Schatzle, her brother Ben “BJ” Schatzle, his wife Amy Schatzle, as well as her former husband Adam Smith and their beloved children Taylor, Luke and Lola. Kelci was predeceased by her grandparents Don and Myrtle Schatzle and Chester and Alice Satterly; as well as a special aunt, Carole Lafferty; aunts Teresa Anderson and Sharla Satterly; and an uncle, Ken Lafferty.
Kelci was born and raised in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She graduated from Jefferson High School and later obtained an AA Degree from Armstrong Atlantic State University in Savannah, Ga. While in Cedar Rapids, Kelci was an avid skier and was a member of the Five Seasons Ski Team for many years. Kelci and her family lived in Ely, Iowa, and moved to Cape Coral, Fla., in 2019. Kelci was a devoted mother to Taylor, Luke and Lola and she loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed watching the kids’ sporting events, which mostly consisted of soccer and volleyball.
Kelci had a love for anything associated with the water, which included growing up going to Lake Delhi in the summer and many sailing and boating trips around the islands in southern Florida. In her spare time, Kelci enjoyed decorating her home, which she had a knack for.
Kelci was a dedicated mother and daughter and will be dearly missed by her friends and family. The family invites you to join them for a Celebration of Life open house on Sunday, Sept. 3, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Palmer House in Solon, Iowa.
Per Kelci’s wishes, her ashes will be scattered at sea, for this is the place that she found peace and loved the most.
