Keith E. Walton, 85, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2017, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion. Funeral Service: 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6, at Troy Mills Christian Church, Troy Mills, conducted by the Rev. Don McGarvey. The family will greet friends one hour before the service at the church. Burial: Troy Mills Cemetery at a later date.
Keith is survived by his wife, Yvonne of Cedar Rapids; children, Lynne (Dennis) Lickteig of Waterloo, Craig (Carmen) Walton of Cedar Rapids, Christine Lietz of Longmont, Colo., Neal (Michele) Mains of Marion, Paula Mains of Cedar Rapids and Julie (Tim) Pohlad of Phoenix, Ariz.; 12 grandchildren, Shannon McGraw, Chad Walton, Lindey Fox, Cassie Trask, Lauren Nissen, Bobby, Jeffrey and Tommy Lietz, Ryan and Jason Mains, and Gabrielle and Jackson Pohlad; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Harold "Tommy"; two grandsons, Christopher and Garet; and son-in-law, Curt Cassidy.
Keith was born Nov. 28, 1931, in Troy Mills, Iowa, the son of Harlan and Loretta (Hunter) Walton. He graduated from Troy Mills High School. Keith married Mary Baty and to this union two children were born, Lynne and Craig. He later married Yvonne Mains. Keith was a longtime owner of the Standard Station in Troy Mills for many years. He also was a school bus driver for North Linn Schools. Keith was a member of Troy Mills Christian Church and a volunteer fireman for Troy Mills. Keith was an avid golfer and loved to dance with Yvonne whenever they could. He also enjoyed making wine. But his greatest love of all was his family and his Lord. He was a well-respected man with a gentle heart. Keith touched many lives in many ways and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
